The Waiting List Map: Every Garage Door Tune-Up That Is Due or Overdue

A tune-up program with two hundred customers has a simple question at its center every Monday morning: who needs a visit this week? Answering it from a spreadsheet means sorting columns and guessing at addresses. Answering it from a map takes one look.

Where Due Visits Go

The rule that makes a visit come due is explained in Setting a 365-Day Recurring Garage Door Tune-Up by Minimum Days Between Visits. Once a visit is due, it needs somewhere to wait until the office puts it on a van. That place is the Waiting List.

The Waiting List in GarageDoorBossPro is a live map and a list side by side. Every tune-up and maintenance visit that has come due shows as a pin at its address, and the same visits show in the list with the client, the service and the due date. New service requests from customers show here too.

Reading the Colors

Pins are colored by status, so the office can tell at a glance what needs attention:

The grace period keeps the map from turning into a sea of overdue pins the moment a visit comes due. A tune-up done three days late is normal. One done three weeks late needs a phone call.

Planning the Week From the Map

The map is where clustering happens. Look for groups of due-now pins in the same part of town and give them a day. A line of six tune-ups along the same few streets is a full, efficient day for one van with very little drive time.

Then look for strays. An overdue pin on the far side of town can ride along on the day a repair call takes a van out there. A not-due-yet pin next door to a cluster can be pulled in early if the customer is happy to have it done.

The office assigns the chosen visits to a van and a day, and they move onto the dispatch board. Routing that day is covered in Routing a Full Day of Garage Door Tune-Ups From the Waiting List.

Requests and Plan Visits Together

Because new service requests show on the Waiting List alongside due tune-ups, the office sees both at once. A customer who asks for an opener repair through the customer app might be two streets from three tune-ups due this week. Put them on the same day and the van makes one trip instead of two.

Emergencies are different. A broken spring with a car stuck inside goes straight to the van on repairs. But plenty of requests can wait a day or two, and those are the ones that pair well with nearby tune-ups.

Commercial maintenance on 90-day intervals shows on the same map, so a property manager's buildings and the houses around them can be planned together when it makes sense.

Imported Customers on the Map

When you bring an existing tune-up list into GarageDoorBossPro by CSV import, imported addresses are placed on the map automatically. That means your first Waiting List already shows last year's customers in the right spots, without anyone dropping pins by hand.

If a pin looks wrong, such as a house that shows up in the middle of a field, fix the address on the client and the pin moves.

One client can have many addresses, which matters for landlords and small property owners who keep a tune-up on several houses. Each address gets its own pin and its own due date, so a landlord with four rentals shows up as four separate visits on the map rather than one confusing entry. The office can still see that all four belong to the same client when it is time to call or bill.

One Screen Instead of a Spreadsheet

Spreadsheets are where tune-up programs go to die. The columns are out of date, nobody knows which rows are done, and the addresses are just text. The Waiting List replaces all of that with one live screen that updates itself every time a tech completes a visit.

Keep it simple: check the map at the start of the week, schedule the due-now clusters, catch the overdue ones, and let the rest wait. The next guide covers what to do with the overdue pins. For how the Waiting List fits with the rest of the tune-up program, see the garage door maintenance software overview.
